What if learning Spanish felt less like homework and more like stepping into an art studio?
Spanish as a Fine Art is a six-month immersive program for adults who want to learn Spanish the creative way. Developed by my husband Ariel, an applied linguist, and Vanessa Balbo, a renowned Panamanian artist, this program teaches the fundamentals of Spanish and art at the same time.
You won’t just memorize vocabulary - you’ll draw it, paint it, label it, discuss it, and bring it to life.
What you’ll learn:
- Core Spanish grammar and vocabulary, taught intuitively and visually
- Listening and speaking skills through guided artistic practice
- Cultural context through art history, studio conversation, and critique
- How to think in Spanish, not translate into it
How it works:
- 6-month guided program designed specifically for adult learners
- The cost is $250.00 a month
- Choose to attend in person at Vanessa’s studio in El Cangrejo or live online via Zoom
- Each student uses a customized sketchbook/textbook designed for the course
- Simple, affordable art materials required (nothing fancy)
Perfect for you if…
- You’ve tried learning Spanish before and it didn’t stick
- You’re visual, creative, or curious by nature
- You want a slower, deeper, more enjoyable learning experience
- You believe learning should be beautiful and practical
By the end of the program, you won’t just speak Spanish, you’ll have a personal, artistic record of your learning journey, filled with images, notes, and expressions that actually mean something to you.
